August 2011 Update
(update 20/08/2011)
Where
has the summer gone? Ten performances since the last update, and
we're looking towards Autumn and the 'close season'. However,
some of the highlights of the year are still to come. The next
being the annual concert for the RNLI on 25th August in St Mary's
Tenby. This is usually one of the biggest audiences and best
concerts of the year. As well as regular soloist Pauly Varallo, we will be joined by violinist Hannah Lowe.
Thanks to the villagers and parishoners in St Florence for the warm
welcome on 9th August. The church was full, and the boys very
much enjoyed
the afterglow in the Parsonage. In general, Wilbur seems very
pleased with our recent performances, subject, as always, to his maxim:
"We are only as good as our last concert!"

June 2011 Update
(update 07/06/2011)
May
was very busy with five concerts, including the massed choirs event in
Narberth, which raised over £2000 for the Wales Air Ambulance. There's
a lull now until 16th June, after which it's full steam ahead once
more. We were particularly pleased to welcome Neyland Ladies
Choir (below) as guests for a joint concert on 26th
May. It was a fine musical evening, and the afterglow proved that
the ladies knew how to enjoy themselves, as well a make good music.
April 2011 Update
(update 22/04/2011)
Easter
is upon us, and there are another two concerts in April. The
first is the Easter Sunday comcert in St Johns Tenby, and the second is
in St Mary's Tenby on 26th April. Cory Morris will be performing
trumpet solos with us un Sunday, along with our regular solo singer,
Paul Varallo.

Thanks
to everyone involved in the 12th April concert, especially to our
soloist, Jamie Hutchinson (above) and her accompanist Seimon Morris. (Both images above can be viewed in a larger version by rightclicking.)
Three clips from this concert are already available on YouTube.
Wilbur was very happy with the performance, and afterwards we
celenrated His and Sue's silver wedding anniversary at the County
Club. Thanks to Gill Pearce for the wonderful cake and for
organising the food.
The concert with the Goodwick Brass Band was packed and very
enjoyable. Congratulations to all involved, including tenor
soloist Trystan Llŷr Griffiths from Clynderwen.
March 2011 Update
(update 25/03/2011)
Tomorrow (26th March) we are honoured to be the guests of the award-winning Goodwick Brass Band
at a joint concert in Sir Thomas Picton school in Haverfordwest.
The concert starts at 7.30; tickets are £10 - please phone Eric Mullins
(01834 845117) for details.
The St David's Day concert in St Mary's was very enjoyable. It
opened with patriotic fervour, as we sung Caradog Roberts' rousing hymn
'Rachie' ( I Bob un sy'n ffyddlon ) in Welsh. There followed a
mixture of songs from around the world, including several more Welsh
numbers, and also two recent additions to the TMC repertoire. The
first was the première of 'O Isis and Osiris' from Mozart's 'Magic
Flute' . The second was the St Mary's première of MD Ian “Wilbur”
Williams' arrangement of 'This Is The Moment' from the musical 'Jekyll
And Hyde'. As Wilbur was pleased with the performance, we didn't
see his personal 'Hyde' that night! Yet again, we were privileged
to have the very talented Lily Whitehurst perform violin solos for
us. Her pieces were Polichinelle by Kreisler, Adoration by
Borowski, Schindler's List by John Williams and Czardas by Monti.
Lily was accompanied by her mother Rebecca, and watched from the
audience by proud grandparents John (a retired chorister) and Joyce
Williams.

February 2011 Update
(update 22/02/2011)
The
2011 season gets underway with the St David's day concert in St Mary's,
Tenby on Tuesday March 1st. We have been hard at work over the
winter, and several new songs will be appearing in the repertoire, at
least two next week.
The choir lunch at the end of January was a great success as
always. The Giltar Hotel really did us proud! Thanks again to Pat
and the staff. We were honoured yet again by the presence of
choir president Roy Noble and his wife Elaine. After dinner Roy
entertained the company with a very amusing yet reflective speech whose
theme was the importance of community. Then the choir repeared to
the bar area to "make its own entertainment" with comedy and
song. The highlight was top tenor and in house comedian Ediie
Stapleton literally back from the dead. (Eddie had a heart attack
on stage in May and was saved by the quick thinking of two of his
audience with first-aid training.) His hilarious, and at times wicked,
little act climaxed with Stanley Holloway's monologue “My, You Do Look
Queer”. There was one more spot for Geraint “Turkey”
Phillips, after which the laughter and singing continued until well
after dusk.
